NEIL ANGILLEY is a brilliant pianist, equally at home playing jazz, Latin or classical.

He has worked with the acid jazz percussionist Snowboy, is MD for the violin virtuoso Vanessa Mae and was keyboardist and arranger for jazz chart-topping band “Down to the Bone”.

He includes work with the likes of Shirley Bassey, Michael Ball, Jazz clarinettist Julian Marc Stringle and Jazz/Rock show “War of The Worlds” on a glittering CV. A great jazz as well as Latin/Brazilian player, his remarkable musicianship is enormously respected throughout the scene.

Neil’s debut album “Havana Club”, featuring some of his renowned Latin/jazz original compositions, was received with great acclaim and his second, highly impressive, album under his own name, “Chango” featuring, amongst others, one of Europe’s finest percussionists, Snowboy, was equally well received.

In this concert, as well as his Latin repertoire, Neil will be presenting music from his latest project “The Lake District” suite. Also featured are his storming rhythm section of Davide Mantovani on bass and Davide Giovannini on drums.

We are thrilled to be welcoming back to the incredible talent that is Bogdan Vacarescu, accompanied on Piano by Julian Jacobson.

Bogdan is an international Romanian concert violinist living in London, who has toured internationally since his teens as a concerto soloist, chamber and orchestra musician. His recent solo album “Violin and Piano Thrillers” is at the top of the Album of the Year in Romania and was given a 5 star review in Musical Opinion.

He has performed in the Sydney Opera House, Athenaeum in Bucharest, Romanian National Radio Hall, The United Nations Concert Hall in New York, New Morning in Paris, Kings Place and Purcell Room in London.

In 2017 Bogdan founded “String Dimensions” – a chamber music ensemble which will give well-deserved play/air time to music rarely heard in concert programmes. He has made numerous recordings on Romanian National Radio and Television, BBC Radio and ABC Australia. Bogdan also recorded soundtracks for films and documentaries, most notably in collaboration with Oscar winners Stephen Warbeck and Gabriel Yared and for the BBC and ABC Television.

He toured the world leading the Balkan band “Paprika” and “Graffiti Classics”. He has collaborated with Nigel Kennedy, The Cat Empire, She’Koyokh and as a free-lancer with many successful ensembles in the UK.

Bogdan is a graduate of the Conservatoire of Music in Bucharest and the Royal Academy of Music in London as a student of Beno Schwartzman, Paul Ratz and Gyorgy Pauk.

about the Isle of Man. Will Granny ever finish their bedtime story and get them to sleep? Not
if these cheeky children have anything to do with it!

Produced and directed by Lisa Kreisky and Kristene Sutcliffe of Stage Door Entertainment
and proudly sponsored by the Isle of Man Arts Council, this exciting and educational show is
making it’s way around the Isle of Man in the first tour of it’s kind.

Lisa said “As parents ourselves, Krissy and I are fully aware that it’s not always easy to
travel with young kids, even around the Isle of Man. But we believe that this should not stop
them enjoying the magic of Theatre, so we decided to take it on the road. Bring it to them as
such” Kristene added “The show was so popular when it was first performed at The Studio Theatre
at part of Theatrefest 19 back in October. The one criticism we received was that the One
Night Only performance was not enough and too few people got to see it. So, we are
remedying that.”

Perry and Croft’s classic BBC sitcom brought gloriously to life. Three episodes of the hugely popular radio series hilariously and lovingly enacted by two master performers. David Benson (Goodnight Sweetheart and One Man, Two Guvnors) and Jack Lane (Wisdom of a Fool and 7 Days) transport the audience right back to Walmington, working from original radio scripts – complete with sound effects, vintage music and all of Perry and Croft’s beloved characters and catchphrases. DAVID BENSON

Best-known for his performance as Noel Coward in the BBC’s classic war-time comedy Goodnight Sweetheart. David exploded onto the theatre scene with his first solo show Think No Evil of Us: My Life With Kenneth Williams, in 1996. The show became an instant classic, winning praises from audiences, critics and Dames Maggie Smith and Barbara Windsor for the accuracy of his portrayal as the Carry On star. He followed this with a succession of solo shows on a wide variety of subjects, including Frankie Howerd, Dr. Johnson, the death of Diana Princess of Wales and an award-winning examination of the Lockerbie bombing.

David was a member of the National Theatre’s smash hit comedy One Man, Two Guvnors with James Corden, playing 1,015 performances of the show.

He appears in the film Blade Runner 2049 as a hologram of Liberace!

David was nominated for a BBC Audio Best Actor Award for his portrayal as Frankie Howerd in Frankie Takes a Trip. David describes Dad’s Army Radio Show as “the best idea I ever had” and inviting Jack Lane to perform it with him, “the second best idea I ever had!”

JACK LANE

Jack founded Engine Shed Theatre Company in 2010. He soon adapted three episodes and two Christmas specials of the classic BBC sitcom Steptoe and Son receiving approval from the original writers Ray Galton and Alan Simpson. In 2015 Jack premiered Wisdom of a Fool, a self-penned one-man play based on the life and career of comedy icon, Norman Widsom. The play opened to critical acclaim and was endorsed by Wisdom’s estate before embarking on an extensive tour.

We are delighted that the Little Big Time Band are returning to the Centenary Centre on Sat 4th April. The band consists of a member from each section of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. They are doing a fun concert for children in the afternoon and an adult virtuoso performance in the evening.

Come and dance to the Big Band Sound with a programme to suit all ages, including classics from the Kenton, Basie and Miller libraries through to the 21st Century sounds of the Big Phat Band.

The emphasis,  as always, is on entertainment and fun.

This year the bands we have coming to #OIOW2020 are so great, but so expensive (!) we need to raise some money to keep the prices the same as last year. Some of the best local artists are going to sing their favourite Beatles songs to help us out! Big Thanks to them, and to you for supporting us!

This show has now been postponed due to the Coronavirus pandemic. We are hoping to be able to reschedule it for some time in 2021, but we don’t have a date yet we will be refunding all tickets. If you purchased tickets online these will be refunded to you automatically within the next 28 days. If you purchased physical tickets, please return them when you can to the outlet you purchased the ticket from for a refund.

The show is the brainchild of Gina Foster and Tessa Niles. Gina, Tessa, Keith Murrell and Mim Grey have sung backing vocals for an untouchable array of stars such as David Bowie, Stevie Wonder, Tina Turner, Paul McCartney, The Who and Eric Clapton to name a few. For the first time we see them step into the spotlight. Joining them on this musical journey is Musical Director, Mike Moran.

The show is the ultimate backstage pass into the world of Rock and Pop. Blending the history of British backing vocalists with revealing storytelling, featuring the songs the Unsung Singers have helped make hits.
