Introducing the Centenary Centre Art Group

The Art Group was formed in September 2010 and offers regular Tuesday mornings sessions where members do their own thing with guidance from the more experienced of us. Nothing formal but rather more gentle tuition “do you think you might better use that line or colour...” type of thing as opposed to art classroom lessons. Talking is allowed !

However we also offer workshops depending on the availability of tutors but these will generally be held on other days so that Tuesday mornings continue to offer a more relaxed environment where you can improve your skills . That is not to say we won’t have workshops on Tuesdays but they will not be as intensive as the workshops we have on other days (Saturdays included to catch those at work or school during the week) which will offer more concentrated tuition at all levels including beginners.

The Centre has a professional hanging system in the Atholl Room where the Group has its annual exhibition in late May which is open free of charge over two weeks. Tea and coffee will be available in return for a donation that will go to Isle of Man Hospice. The Centre does not charge commission on members’ sales but a donation towards the Centre’s funds will be much appreciated.

Additionally the Centre is available for outside artists’ exhibitions and details of our terms for hosting exhibitions are available on request. We have been lucky enough to host exhibitions that have finished at the Sayle Gallery and this link with the Sayle is much valued.

There is no annual subscription as the Group is not a club but rather part of the facilities offered by the Centre. Members pay per session/workshop. The Tuesday morning sessions are generally £5 unless there is a workshop on when the cost will be £7.50 or £10 depending on the duration of the workshop. Ordinary sessions are from 10am to 1pm. Intensive workshops are over two hours and the cost is generally £10.
