Guitarist Danny\, pianist Dean\, and multi-instrumentalist Leyna-write and produce their own original material and combine their lay ered sibling harmonies with a blend of Celtic folk music and vintage Ameri cana to create their unique and eclectic style. \nSoukous\, the dance music of Zaire\, was updated by Paris-based vocalist and bandleader Konda Bongo Ma n. With his high tenor vocals alternating between lyrics in Lingala andFre nch\, Bongo Man and his band\, which has included influential guitarists Diblo Dibala in the 1980s and Rigo Star in the 1990s\, has sparked danc ing in audiences around the globe.
\nThe New York Times wrote\, " \;Zairean soukous is a lilting\, rippling\, dance groove that seems to smi le from every register\, with melody and rhythm inseparable.Kanda Bongo Man will be joined by a six piece band and two dancers on his visit to the Peel Centenary Centre.
\nGasper Nali

\nGasper Nali is a Malawian one-man-band. An old video of him playing his 3 metre longone-string bass guitar has been watched over 18 million times online in the last 12 months. Gasper’s incredible instrument – a Babatoni – is all homemade\, and is played with a beer bottle and a stick while he’ s singing and stomping a locally fashioned kick-pedal on his cow
\nsk in bass drum. His music is bouncy and catchy\, Malawi Roots to the core\, and very danceable. Songlines Magazine summed it up very well in their 4-s tar review of his album: “…simple but joyous\, and totally infectious”.Gasper\, 35\, lives a quite modest life in the small town of Nkhata Bay on the shores ofnorthern Lake Malawi. In his younger years\, he and hi s brothers would travel a bit with a family band in order to make money\, but these days he lives alone in a small house inNkhata Bay\, mainly suppo rting himself by playing regular shows at venues in town\,
\nMichael Mountain
\nMichael Mountain\, the composer and sin ger\, is a multifaceted man. He is a small-scaletobacco and maize farmer\, a community organiser\, a reflective thinker\, a prolificsongwriter and a charismatic artist. On one hand he is deeply rooted in the spirituality o fthe Rastafari movement\, on the other\, immersed in the local politics of being chief of asmall village.
\nRaised and educated in Zambia\, Mi chael now lives the humble lifestyle common to mostpeople in rural Malawi with his wife and two young children. The front porch of their small house is his favourite place. From there he can clearly see life from a differe nt point of view and put these reflections into song.

\nHis debut alb um “Nowhere Else To Go” was mainly recorded in a studio on the shores of L ake Malawi\, where Michael’s soulful voice was backed up by a crew of fant astic musicians from the Nkhata-Bay area. A few overdubs\, some finishing touches and themixing was done in Sweden and the result of this collaborat ion is something quite special.

Dr Paul Stickler is a former UK police chief superintenden t who was a senior investigating officer in many murder investigations. He is a graduate of the FBI Academy in Quantico\, Virginia with a bachelor’s degree in history and social sciences\, a master’s degree in criminology and a PhD in law. His thesis examined the legal basis of murder investigat ions in the inter-war period.
\nFor the past 10 years\, Paul has bee n engaged on cruise ships worldwide as a guest speaker and has delivered o ver 600 talks on a series of historical murders. He acts as an advisor to television and radio networks on matters of true historical crime. He is t he author of two books\, At Mrs Ridgley’s Corner (2018) and The Long Silen ce (2021). He has made television and radio appearances to talk about indi vidual historical murders.
\nHis experience in murder investigations coupled with his passion for history make his presentations absorbing\, c hallenging\, entertaining and informative. Join Paul at the Centenary Cent re for an evening where he will discuss two historical murder cases which he has researched in incredible detail\, and provides an indepth insight t hrough the use of photographic and documentary evidence contemporary to th e cases in question.
